WHy Test For Radon

Why Every Northeast Ohio Home Should Test

Northeast Ohio sits in EPA Zone 1, the highest-risk zone for radon in the country. That doesn't mean every home tests high. It does mean every home is worth testing. You cannot see, smell, or taste radon. The only way to know what's in the air your family breathes is to measure it with calibrated equipment.

Testing is the right move whether you're buying, selling, refinancing, building, or just curious about your own home. Most tests come back fine. The handful that don't are exactly the reason testing exists in the first place.
Our Technology

How We Measure:
Continuous Radon Monitors

We don't use mail-in canisters. Here's why that matters.
Two methods exist for measuring radon: passive canisters (charcoal kits you mail to a lab) and active continuous radon monitors (electronic devices that log hourly readings on-site). We use the second.

The Testing Process

From Schedule To Report In 3 Days

01
Drop-Off
We deliver and place the continuous radon monitor in the lowest livable level of your home. Takes about 15 minutes. You don't need to be there for the full test, just for placement.
02
48-Hour Monitoring
The monitor records hourly readings while you keep "closed-house conditions" (windows closed, normal HVAC use). No special prep beyond that.
03
Digital Report Delivery

We retrieve the monitor, generate your written report within 24 hours, and email it as a PDF you can forward to your lender, agent, or buyer.

FAQs

Common Testing Questions

Most professional radon tests run for 48 hours of active monitoring, plus a few minutes for setup and pickup. Full results are usually delivered as a written PDF report within 3 business days of scheduling.

No. You can live normally during the 48-hour test. You just need to follow EPA "closed-house conditions," which means windows stay closed (HVAC running normally is fine). You don't need to stay out of the basement or change anything about your routine.

Very. Continuous radon monitors calibrated to EPA standards are considered the gold-standard short-term measurement method. For homes near the 4.0 pCi/L action level where the homeowner wants extra confidence, we offer follow-up 90-day passive testing as well.

We'll walk you through what the number means and what your options are. Most homes that test high can be fixed with a mitigation system installed in a single day. See our Radon Mitigation page for the next step.
